I recommend this ink for fountain pens; it is water based, unlike an India or similar ink. This will not clog your pen, and the bottle is shallow enough to use with a dip pen. I prefer this screw cap option over the apothecary inkwell. The size is small and safe to stow for transport or storage. There is enough ink to keep a fountain pen full a long time, even for daily writing. I warn against expecting such longevity with a dip pen; they use ink quickly.
I will note: one bottle had no label, which is important to avoid confusion when filling a pen. The wax was stiff, as if it sealed the bottle shut. When uncapped, it snapped and two slivers of wax fell off. I assume this was a fluke; Nostalgic Impressions has been a reputable and detail oriented supplier for me. I have deep respect for their products and punctuality.
Overall, the ink itself is superb, and I prefer the size and shape of this square bottle. Fully recommend.
I have purchased a couple other bottles like this, but I had not expected the Burgundy to have so much purple in it. I think it might be the fountain pen, but it doesn't seem to flow as well as the Black or Blue inks of the same type. I am satisfied with Nostalgic Impressions and their products, but this specific bottle has been a learning experience. I recommend those looking at the Burgundy ink to recognize it is more purple and less bright than you may expect. I need to study the differences between burgundy and oxblood apparently....
