You will receive a confirmation via e-mail of your order, which will not include sensitive information.Declined Credit Card
In almost all instances credit cards are declined because of an AVS mismatch error. This simply means that the U.S credit card processing company was unable to verify your billing address. This security precaution is put in place to protect card holders from credit card fraud. A very safe and effective way to avoid these issues is to select PayPal during the checkout process rather than a credit card. PayPal is completely safe and is the largest online payment method in the world. The set up takes only a couple of minutes and it will eliminate the issues with the AVS errors.
Please Note: The name that will appear on your Credit Card Statement will be: FREUND/NOSTI or NOSTALGICIMPRESSION.

If you want wax that is mailable and can go through the modern postal system, you should choose any Modern Sealing Wax Format - Glue Gun, Bead or Stick. For a more traditional experience, where the wax can break upon opening, then traditional Waxes are for you!
Modern Sealing Waxes, when compared to original formulas, are more viscous, denser, tackier, has a higher melting point and is in general more elastic and adhesive. This is why modern waxes are easier to use, work better when sealing and are more adhesive during the mailing process.
Traditional Waxes, on the other hand, have a hi-gloss finish and hold impressions with great detail, but will not hold up as well when mailing.
How many impressions do I get per stick of Sealing Wax?
This depends on the Sealing Wax type and whether you apply the wax on a conservative side or enjoy a large application of wax on each seal. The following are our best estimates using a various die sizes with an average size 1/4" rim:
.59" (15mm) - 3/4"(20mm) Die: 3-4 beads
1" Die (25mm): 4-5 beads per wax seal
1 1/8" Die (30mm): 6-7 beads per wax seal
1 3/8" Die (35mm): 8-9 beads per wax seal
1 3/4" Die (45mm): 10-12 beads per wax seal
2" Die (50mm): 12-15 beads per wax seal
Flexible Sealing Wax Sticks with a wick:
.59" (15mm), 3/4" (20mm) & 1" (25mm) Dies: 12-15 wax seals per stick
1 1/8" (30mm) Die: 8-10 wax seals per stick
This wax is not recommended for Die sizes larger than 1 1/8".
.59" (15mm) - 3/4"(20mm) Die: 10-12 wax seals per stick
1" Die (25mm): 8-9 wax seals per stick
1 1/8" Die (30mm): 6-7 wax seals per stick
1 3/8" Die (35mm): 4 wax seals per stick
1 3/4" Die (45mm): 2-3 wax seals per stick
2" Die (50mm): 1-2 wax seals per stick
.59" (15mm), 3/4" (20mm) & 1" (25mm) Dies: 20 to 25 wax seals per stick
1 1/8" Die: 18-22 wax seals per stick
This wax is not recommended for Die sizes larger than 1 1/8".
.59" (15mm), 3/4" (20mm) & 1" (25mm) Dies: 20 to 25 wax seals per stick
1 1/8" (30mm) Die: 18 - 22 wax seals per stick
This wax is not recommended for Die sizes larger than 1 1/8".
Yes! All Modern Sealing Waxes are mailable and flexible - people have mailed sealed envelopes through the modern postal service for dozens of years. Using modern sealing wax applied directly to the envelope is the best way to ensure that your wax seal will stay intact through the process, even with modern postal sorting machines. Damaged seals can happen but are a rarity. Hand cancelling by the Post Office can add an additional layer of security. Traditional Sealing Waxes are not mailable and should be used for decorative purposes only and should be mailed with an outer protective envelope. Original Formula Bank Wax is completely breakable and is used to indicate tampering.
Mailing Sizes: The largest recommended size that is mailable on the outside of an envelope is the 1 1/8" die (finished wax seal 1 1/4"). Any larger wax seals are over the regulations set by the Post Office and are more likely to be damaged by the postal sorting machines or rejected by the Post Office.
No!
Just like with most other consumer goods, there are quality and style differences that affect the outcome. Depending on the formula used as well as the source you use when buying your sealing wax, there are a number of variables that affect the quality of the wax. Quality differences are, for example, clear, runny waxes that don't hold an impression vs. deep rich glossy thick textures. It is always best to buy your wax from a trusted specialty expert supplier, rather than a big box name or website. We offer several styles of waxes to suit every need or requirement, most made exclusively for us. We offer over 7 decades of experience in our field and we know good sealing wax!
Glue Gun Sealing Wax is by far the easiest and fastest way- it is low cost, totally flexible and mailable and makes a large amount of wax seals in a short amount of time. In addition, wax seals can easily be made ahead of item and then applied with self-adhesive double sided labels. Check out our Videos for more information on making seals ahead of time in quantity!
OR
Let us do the work for you....
Our Adhesive Wax Seals are available in standard layouts (Initials, Monograms, Symbols,) as well as your own Custom Logo in over 45 colors. With a strong hi-tack backing that can be easily removed, our easy-to-apply hand pressed wax seals are the real thing and are a snap to add to any project without any work for you.
As mentioned, Wax Sticks with a wick do not require any melting tools-just light and drip.
Small Electric Melting Pot: Can be used to melt all types of waxes: Glue Gun, Bead, Traditional and Modern wicked waxes (if you remove the wicks after melting). Larger sticks can be cut apart for faster Melting.
Large Electric Melting Pot: Can be used to melt all types of waxes: Glue Gun, Bead, Traditional and Modern wicked waxes (if you remove the wicks after melting). Larger sticks can be cut apart for faster Melting. Use for volume jobs in which a large quantity of wax is needed.
Melting Spoons: Available in two sizes - medium size spoon is perfect for making a single impression - large size spoon is great for large size dies that require more wax.
Traditional Melting Set with Spoon: Great for Bead waxes to melt individual impressions.
Low-Temp Glue Gun: For Glue Gun Sealing Wax only- cannot be used with other types of waxes.
Modern Sealing Wax will adhere to most types of commonly used paper, but papers with a heavy wax coating, such as vellum can cause the wax to peel off. We do not recommend the use of very thin low quality paper as this will have the wax bleed through on the other side. For use on Glass and other mediums it is often best to make the impression separately and then adhere it with our Self Adhesive Labels with very strong bonding.
Will your Sealing Wax melt during shipping or mailing?
No, not under normal circumstances. The melting point of this wax is over 220 degrees, so in normal circumstances this should not be an issue. However, if it were left in a closed space (like a car) or in direct sunlight for many hours during high heat, it would be possible that the wax would soften a bit and get stuck to other pieces. However, this is very very unusual and indeed a rarity.
The generic composition of our modern Sealing Waxes in Glue Gun, Bead and Flexible Stick form consists of Refined Paraffin waxes, Microcrystalline Waxes and color Pigments. These components impart the performance properties of modern sealing waxes when compared to original formulas– the wax is more viscous, denser, tackier, has a higher melting point and is in general more elastic and adhesive . This is why this modern waxes work so much better with stamping, retaining a good impressions and being adhesive during the mailing process.
Modern Sealing Waxes are:
- FDA certified for Direct Food Contact (Glue Gun and Bead Wax only).
- Non Toxic as long as not ingested
- Vegan - the wax is not animal derived and not tested on animals
They are NOT:
- biodegradable or recyclable
- Natural
Would you be interested in the history of wax seals, which has been traced back to Anno Domini 930?
The use of seals can be traced back to the Old Testament, where it mentions that Jezebel used Ahab's seal to counterfeit important documents.
Royalty and governments used their own seal to affix to proclamations to give them their authoritative stamp of approval. The first Great Seal of England was that of Edward the Confessor, impressions of which can still be found. During this time, almost everyone had their own seal, and while most people had just one, Royalty would own several, including their "Great" Seal, as well as seals for all their courts and officials. It was common practice to destroy the seal when the owner died, which is the reason so few original seals are still in existence today.
Official Seals of the Crown were often handed over with great ceremony, and in Medieval Times the size and motif of the Seal conveyed an image of the status of it's owner. Early motifs were equestrian or heraldic in nature, or showed the owner in various pursuits like hunting or doing battle. William the Conqueror used an equestrian seal showing him armed and ready for battle.
In Medieval Times, betrothals were prearranged-therefore true words of love were secretly written and the envelope's contents secured by a wax seal, so that the recipient could be assured that their passion would be unknown to others.
The first Seal of the United States was created by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams & Thomas Jefferson on July 4th 1776 immediately after the Declaration of Independence was signed. Congress realized the necessity of such a seal for the newly established nation.
With the introduction of the gummed envelope in the 19th Century the need for privacy was reduced. Seals became a more personal expression as well as a decorative embellishment.
By using your own Seal with our Genuine Sealing Wax, you will uphold this time-honored tradition, even in today's hi-tech world. From a teenager to a Head-of-State, a personal seal lends dignity, prestige, and a personal flair to letters, notes, cards, invitations and even gift-packaging.

The Main difference is Depth of Engraving :
Wax Stamps are typically engraved at 0.75mm to 1mm in depth.
Chocolate Stamps are engraved 10-20% deeper. Chocolate does not hold an impression as well as Sealing Wax.
Food-Safe Coating: In addition, a food safe coating is applied to the Brass for Chocolate Stamps
You can use Chocolate stamps on wax as well, but in doing so you will negate the effect of the food-safe coating that is applied.
The artwork should be submitted with the background in white and the art to be engraved in black .
- File Type: Preferred File Type: Adobe Illustrator or similar vector-based software.
- All Acceptable File Types: AI, EPS, TIFF, PSD, PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF.
Artwork Specifications & Guidelines:
- Black and White Graphic Art: Ideal art is your design in black on a white background. All black areas of the art will be engraved and raised in wax.
- Art with shadings or color: If you do not have black and white art our expert Graphic Art department can convert most art. As some art of this nature takes more work than others, please select Color & Phot Conversion when ordering your stamp and we will advise if additional production prep is needed.
- Hand Drawings: We can convert most hand drawings-for best results they should have lines that are crisp and clean, so that it can be easily converted to graphic art. Some art fees may apply, depending on the art.
Reversing Art: We will reverse your art in the engraving process so please submit your art as you wish to see it in the final outcome in wax.
We offer many die sizes to choose from-the average/most popular size die is a 1" (25mm stamp). Whatever die size you choose for your project, keep in mind the complexity of your art. Also, when looking at artwork that is magnified larger than its final engraved size, it is often not possible to see the problems with complex and detailed artwork until you view it at its final size. We recommend using our Artwork Templates to see how the detail of you art will appear on the die you choose. We offer the option of a proof for you to review your art at the final engraving size to see if small details blend together or merge to form solid black areas. Our engraving department, if necessary, will make recommendations and small adjustments to ensure the best outcome.
To see how your art will look in a particular die size, or to prepare your artwork on our templates, use our Die Size Templates to see how the art fits.
General Guidelines:
The most important questions are: How detailed is the art and how large you want the final wax seal to be?
Rule 1: Simple art with minor details can be engraved on any size die you wish-note that a 1" die is the most popular size, especially for mailing. If you want to mail the seal on the outside of an envelope, we recommend you do not exceed 1 1/8" in die size due to postal regulations.
Rule 2: The more detailed the art, the larger the die size should be. As you reduce artwork, details can merge together. You will get more details in complicated art by using the largest die possible for your project. Our Die Size Templates are a good way to find the appropriate size die for your art. Detailed artwork should be reserved for larger sized dies of 1 1/8" and larger.
Only very basic art only should be engraved on a 3/4" die. Our new small 15mm die is best only for very tiny single Initials or very small basic art. Most other artworks (except higher detail crests) can be engraved on a 1” Round Die – the most popular size. Crests and similar high detail art should be on a 1 1/8” or larger Die. Also, texts are best on a 1 1/8" die so that the text can be large enough to be legible.
Wide perspective art can be in Oval or Rectangular Shape, but sometimes may also work on Round Shapes.
In addition we offer large die sizes (35mm, 45mm and 50mm) which enable you to get a lot more detail but please remember that these large die sizes take a lot of wax per seal!
Please remember that words can be very
challenging to read when imprinted in wax. The larger the font and the larger
the die, the better the outcome will be.
On smaller dies our recommended Text Size for legibility in wax (not graphic art) is 4mm at the die’s actual size.
On 35mm and 45mm die sizes we can typically work with 2mm-3mm text sizes but this depends entirely on the font type. The Font Type is also important for the readability of your text- Tip: Block fonts are easier to read than script fonts. Also, capital letters are easier to read than lowercase letters.
Fine thin lines in your art can be engraved on a stamp, however it may not result in a good impression.
Engraving Depth is based on the thickness of the lines in your artwork. Minimum recommended Line Thickness is .75 pt. Typically, if the lines in your artwork need to be thickened, and can be thickened without impacting your design, we will do so in the proofing and engraving process, if possible. Sometimes, however, it is not possible to thicken lines without details merging together resulting in altering the artwork. In these cases, our Engraving Department will recommend making artwork adjustments and provide their best advice to ensure a great seal!
When you are looking at your proof, please remember that the graphic proof will always look thicker than the actual impression in wax.
Art with shadings or color: If you do not have black and white art our expert Graphic Art department can convert most art. As some art of this nature takes more work than others, please select the option for a quote for Art Fee Services when ordering your stamp and we will advise if additional production prep is needed.
Borders are beautiful accents to artwork, however keep in mind that borders can also reduce the size of your main engraving. If you art is detailed, adding a border to the art will further reduce the size of the art and therefore we recommend adding a border if they are an important part of the design element. Also, please do not place a border around your art unless you wish to have it engraved.
Keep in mind that a wax seal die creates a "natural" border (the round die edge, when impressed in wax) when impressed in wax.
In Wax Seal Stamps it is customary to engrave the black areas presented in your artwork, which are then translated into raised areas when the finished stamp is pressed into hot wax. Therefore, we suggest that you prepare your art so that your design is solid black on a white background, so that the design is what is engraved and not the background.
Negative Engraving Areas (White Spaces in the midst of Black Areas): Reproduction of these areas are dependent on some limitations- we will advise you accordingly if that is the case. While such negative engraving areas look good in graphic art, they often do not produce the same result when impressed in wax, because they will make the background raised and stand out, rather than the design. Some Negative Engraving Fees may apply on a case by case basis.
To the Edge Engraving:
We can engrave stamps to the edge- this is a special service as our normal engraving leaves a safe space around the edge. Additional fee may apply.
Extra Depth Engraving:
Our normal Engraving depth which gives nice definition is 0.75mm. For extra depth engravings, such as chocolate stamps, in most cases a 1.5mm depth should be sufficient, as this is approximately double the normal engraving depth. There is an additional fee for this service-please inquire.
2-D Engraving:
We can in some cases create a 2-D Engraving, meaning some areas are engraved at a different depth than others. This is entirely dependent on the artwork and can only be applied to solid specific areas within the artwork. Each area is engraved at a specific depth, one lower than the other. The outcome depends on the art and we can review and quote this service on a case by case basis.]
Flat Engraving
In order to achieve a specific depth for each line, a laser machine will "dig" into the metal surface repeatedly. This creates a textured surface that is usually visible only large thick lines or large engraved areas (see comparison images). 99% of the time you do not specifically even notice it, and the majority of our customers have no issue with this, but in a few cases you may find that you can see the textured background more than you would like. If you want a smooth flat surface we can engrave in a flat manner, but you do sacrifice depth a bit in exchange for the flat engraving. Also, it takes a lot longer to engrave a flat engraving. Therefore, there is a cost for this and if you are interested in this service, please submit your image and we will be happy to quote. However, we do not recommend artworks with Texts to be flat engraved, as text is difficult to get at the right depth in flat engraving

We have a tab on the back of each adhesive...just pull the tab to peel off the back and adhere your Wax Seal Adhesive to your paper or project. Its that simple!
Yes!
Pre-made Adhesive Wax Seals are mailable and flexible. We use a high bond adhesive, double-sided backing that stands up to modern mailing and sorting machines. While we cannot guarantee that there will never be a "snag" in the mailing, we know from our customers and years of experience that this is indeed a rarity. Again, hand cancelling by the Post Office can add an additional layer of security, however there may be a small fee for this service depending on the local PO.
Wax seals are very minimal in weight so additional postal costs are usually not applicable. A Basic 1" Wax Seal only weighs 0.02 oz. tHowever, you should always check in case unless your mailing piece happens to be on the next threshold of weight & cost increase.
You will want to keep within postal regulations of using sizes up to 1 1/4" maximum. The larger sizes should only be used for decorative purposes.
There are currently 35 colors available-View our Color Chart below. Sorry, we do not currently offer custom color blends at this time.
The most popular size offered on most standard templates is the 1 1/4" finished size (made for a 1" interior size die). However, for custom logos and designs we do offer smaller sizes (1" finished size) as well as much large sizes (up to 2 " finished size). Our dies stamps are mostly round, with rectangular, oval and square shapes available as well.

Introducing You to Calligraphy and the Art of Fine Writing: This guide offers some great tips in how to get started using different Calligraphy Pens, information on basic supplies, dip pen nib styles, and descriptions of the more common Calligraphy Alphabet Styles.
Getting Started:
Calligraphy is concerned with the visual expression of words. Nostalgic Impression’s Calligraphy Sets will help you share in this rewarding activity, learning the basic techniques, developing your own style and then creating original calligraphic designs. As you gain in confidence and experience, an endless range of project opportunities opens up to you e.g. menus, name tags, wedding invitations, family trees and presentation certificates.
Calligraphy should be fun, so it is a good idea to practice using your own favorite texts - poems, proverbs and amusing quotations will add to the pleasure of your work.
There are many excellent books to show you how to develop your natural ability. However, the following guidelines have been prepared to help you get started right away.
Begin by sitting comfortably. You may find it helpful to work on a drawing board or similar surface angled at 30 degrees. You will need a pencil, smooth finish paper and a ruler. Start by ruling up a framework for your lettering. The height of a particular style is set at a specific number of nib widths, and varies according to the size of nib selected.
For practice, draw horizontal parallel lines about ¾” inch apart from each other on a piece of paper. Shake the ink bottle before use. Dip your nib into the ink and tap lightly on the bottle rim to free it of excess ink that would stain the paper when you first begin to write. Before tracing a definite mark, always try a rough draft to verify the right ink quantity and the absence of any foreign body on the tip. For a smooth and constant release of ink from nib to paper, the pen should always be held at a 20-45 degree angle.
When you have chosen a nib size and lettering style, make a scale on a piece of paper to establish the x-height of your letters. X-height is the height of lower case letters without ascenders (upstrokes) and descenders (downstrokes). Mark this down the edge of your writing paper, allowing the same space as x-height for ascenders and descenders. Now rule horizontal guidelines across the paper. Draw the lines in pencil so they can be erased when the ink is dry. Numerals may be either uniform or variable height, depending on the numeral and the style you select.
Your work should be legible and pleasing to the eye. Study the text, then think about lettering styles and sizes, their weight and texture, the spacing of lines, margins and paragraphs. Make a thumbnail sketch of your design - to help determine general shape and balance. Try out different solutions and redraw one or two as a full size rough layout.
The spacing of letters and words, and adequate margins, are important to the balance of your layout. Arrange letters so they appear to have equal space between them - not equal distance. This varies with vertical, rounded and open sided letters. Space between lines depends on letter-style, but should be sufficient to ensure readability. Generous margins make the text appear well balanced and add visual interest. Use your judgment to determine suitable margins. Consider dividing the text into columns and blocks to aid legibility and add variety. Use white space as a design element to emphasize a word or phrase and introduce contrast
Ink color can add variety to a design. It can contribute to a mood you wish to convey or highlight parts of the text. A second color can be used to infill lettering and borders drawn with a scroll nib.
Forget about the discipline of forming letters and enjoy yourself by creating repeat patterns so that you become familiar with numerous effects that can be achieved with your pen.
Work with bold fluid strokes. Avoid tightening your hand, wrist and forearm. Extend the hand motion to most of your arm. An upstroke will produce the finest line possible with a nib, while a down-stroke will make the broadest line possible.
